Bird stitching is painting with thread: contemporary embroidery with a fresh and modern look.
There is no right way to do it: these projects are meant to be both subjective and contemplative.
They will give you a chance to really look at birds: their expressions, their faces, their colouring, their attitudes! Just as no two birds are alike, no two Bird Stitch projects will be alike.
I provide you with guidelines for the placement of colours and some simple stitches, but ultimately, you can stitch the birds however you see them!
A kit for everyone
Kits are available in a variety of sizes, from the Eco Kit to a deluxe Large Kit suitable for special occasions (currently in development).
The kits all come with a 12″ x 12″ full-colour photo of a bird printed on a soft fabric with a luxurious sheen. This provides a gorgeous contrast to the floss of the embroidery.
Upon purchase, you will be able to download a full-colour instructional PDF (including a list of the floss colours used) for your kit. You’ll be able to zoom into the images on a computer and see the stitching details or print it out and take it anywhere. You will find a link to it in your Account (created when you purchase the kit).
